Errol Brimacombe

Errol Brimacombe was born at Selkirk, Manitoba, and lived in Clandeboye during his elementary and high school years. He began post-secondary studies at the University of Manitoba in 1966 and subsequently graduated with a teaching credential. During his program of studies, many fine arts courses were completed through the University of Manitoba and the Manitoba Department of Education. After moving to British Columbia in 1969, further studies were undertaken at Simon Fraser University and the University of British Columbia. He graduated with a degree in Pedagogy in 1979.

In the early 1980s, Brimacombe decided to pursue painting on a professional basis. Watercolor was chosen over other media despite its inherent difficulty. He began to show his work in galleries in 1984 and is represented in many private and corporate collections in Canada, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, the USA, Jamaica, and Great Britain. His work has appeared in many shows in Canada, Japan, China, and South Korea. In 2004 his work was exhibited in the National Museum in Beijing, China, and in 2019 at a 9-country international art show in Ningbo, China, which he attended. His work is also included in the 2020 virtual show “Hands Across the Pacific” which involves 30 countries and more than 300 artists.

Brimacombe has painted a wide range of subject matter. His focus has been on painting Western Canadian landscapes, Prairie scenes, West Coast shorelines, and majestic mountains. He is also known for his portrayal of the Northern Lights.

Brimacombe studio is located in Chilliwack, BC in the picturesque Fraser Valley. He is a sustaining associate member of the American Watercolor Society. His originals are available at Canwest Art Gallery on the Lake in Harrison Hot Springs, BC.
