Rita Chaplinsky

Rita Chaplinsky has been painting in acrylics for 20 years.  She teaches at the North Delta Rec Centre and the Kennedy Senior Centre.  She is also a member of The Watershed Artworks Society and has paintings in the gallery shop.  Formerly, she was the Vice President of the Delta Arts Council and the Langley Arts Council.  Rita also participates annually at the Delta Studio Stomp which is an artists studio tour where artists open up their homes to showcase their works and studios.  She has studied architecture but is now working as an accountant.

Rita is a painter of landscapes and her medium of choice is acrylics.  Painting nature, both realistic scenes and stylistic interpretations, her subject mater ranges from scenery to wildlife to trees and flowers to buildings.  Portraying the mood of the place, she captures the feeling of the moment.  She wants to invite the viewer in, to unfold the mystery of what lies beyond the bend in the path, what lurks in the shadows of the forest, or to feel the cold in the vast deep snow-covered mountains.  Whether it is a dazzling sunset or a happy little sunrise, Rita wants the viewer to feel the emotion as she laid it out.
