Vera Buxton

Vera is a textile artist & photographer who enjoys vivid colors and unique textures. She likes to experiment with textiles to create striking, complex accessories. Her latest passion is hand pleating using pole wrapping techniques, to create beautifully sculptured scarves.

She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alberta. She has continued to take courses at Maiwa School of Textiles, Kwantlen Polytechnic University, Emily Carr University of Art & Design and the Centre of Digital Imaging & Sound. Courses included silk painting, pleating & textile dyeing, the Art of the Cut: draping a Vionnet Gown as well as photography courses.

Her background includes garment construction, sewing with specialty fabrics, quilting, embroidery, beading and draping. She has also taught computer technology, pattern making, fashion illustration and the history of costume.

She enjoys travelling, photography, painting using watercolor, fashion illustration, knitting, crochet & skiing.
